On August 9th, I had the privilege of partnering with GCS Training Group and Lead Instructor Morgan from Crossed Star Firearms to bring together an incredible group of women in Concord, CA, for the Ladies Pistol Class. This gathering wasn’t just about handling firearms—it was about building confidence, expanding knowledge, and creating a supportive environment where women could step into new skills together.
What We Learned
Throughout the day, participants were guided through essential foundations of pistol handling. The class covered:
-
Firearms safety and responsible handling
-
Proper loading and unloading techniques
-
Weapon manipulation and marksmanship fundamentals
-
Drawing from a holster
-
Practical drills to apply these skills in real-life scenarios
For many, this was the first time handling a firearm in such a focused and empowering setting. The progression from safety basics to practical drills gave everyone the chance to build trust in themselves while reinforcing the importance of preparation and awareness.

Why It Matters
Classes like these are more than skill-building—they’re confidence-building. Having the knowledge and ability to handle a firearm safely can shift the way women move through the world. It’s not about fear; it’s about preparation, self-reliance, and knowing you have the ability to protect yourself if needed.
Equally important, this space created a unique sisterhood. Sharing the experience with like-minded women fostered connection, support, and the encouragement to keep learning and growing.
Gratitude
I'm deeply grateful for the partnership with GCS Training Group and their commitment to providing a safe, professional, and encouraging environment for our participants.
To everyone who showed up, asked questions, learned something new, and supported one another—thank you. This is what our Be A Sage approach is all about: encouraging continual growth, expanding knowledge, and empowering women to feel capable in every area of life.
I look forward to partnering for more opportunities like this, where skill-building meets community, and women walk away stronger together.
